Well, after 6+ months of increasingly tense concern and hope for the election, my needless worries have come to the form of a stomach ulcer.

Yesterday I noticed just a general weird feeling in my abdomen. I started to feel achy in my arms and chest. But then I noticed that I felt much better and didn't hurt anywhere after I ate lunch. This morning when I woke up (after not having anything to eat since dinner last night) it felt like there was a dull knife in the pit of my stomach. I know this is an ulcer because I had one before. The only time when it doesn't hurt is when it's recently been fed.

So here's yet another lesson I had to learn the hard way. Stress, worry, screaming at people with Kerry bumper stickers on their cars, and other self-destructive behavior is not good. And it doesn't help matters, either. President Bush was re-elected, and even if I had sat back and just let it go, he still would have been re-elected. There would have been nothing I could have done, either way.

One day I'll learn. One day.
